These eagles are hand carved and are not stained or colored in any way. The darker areas are the heartwood, the closer to the center of the tree. These eagles are specifically carved with naturally light heads and wing tips, from the lighter wood near the outside of the tree, to resemble bald eagles.
Philippine Acacia Wood - This superior wood comes from a pod bearing tree and is known for it's beautiful grain and contrasting colors. It has the unique distinction of appearing to change color and luster in different lighting conditions. This property is called "chatoyancy". The wood can change from a light tan to dark brown - sometimes close to walnut, other times more like rosewood.
Below we also have other carvings and it also made by the same type of wood.
